There’s a new way to share ideas for better communities and it’s coming to Winter Haven April 28-29, 2016. Modeled after CityWorks(X)po, held annually in Roanoke, Virginia, the CityWorks(X)po Florida conference will bring the same idea exchange enthusiasm to Winter Haven. The Winter Haven Economic Development Council is pleased to be one of Main Street Winter Haven’s partners (along with the Greater Winter Haven Chamber of Commerce, City of Winter Haven, and Visit Central Florida), to bring this innovative event to Florida.

Anita Strang, Executive Director of Main Street Winter Haven, Inc., and other community leaders have experienced the unique energy of CityWorks(X)po Roanoke for several years. “Seeing the sharing of ideas in an atmosphere of connectivity, as well as interacting with people doing great work within their own communities,” says Strang, “inspired me to bring this innovative conference to our area.” With support from Ed Walker, founder of CityWorks(X)po, the idea for a Florida focus took off. Walker, the Keynote Speaker for CityWorks(X)po Florida, joins other speakers who are at the top of their respective fields.

No boring meetings at this conference!
Scheduled speakers range from local community leaders to nationally-recognized experts, all of whom will share creative ideas, engage participants and encourage collaboration. With a focus on Florida cities, (X)po will provide participants from across the state the opportunity to interact with each other and exchange ideas to enhance strong communities.

The daytime (X)po sessions will explore seven major themes:

  • Capital & Social Entrepreneurship
  • Leadership & Good Government
  • Arts, Design & Music
  • Knowledge & New Media
  • Outdoors & Recreation
  • Public Health & Social Justice
  • Food & Drink

In addition to the wide variety of topics shared during the day, attendees will also experience nighttime activities, including networking opportunities at high-energy events such as live music on Thursday and a ski show on Friday. Daytime sessions will be held at Heartland Church, 225 Avenue B NW, Winter Haven FL 33881.
